  Munchausen by proxy, also known as factitious disorder imposed on another, is a psychological disorder in which a caregiver makes up or causes symptoms of illness or injury in another person, usually a child or a dependent adult. The caregiver does this to get attention, sympathy, or control from medical professionals or others. It is a form of abuse and can be very harmful to the victim. Munchausen by Proxy is also called as Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. These are two different names for the same mental health disorder.
